Felted Plaid Purse

Felted Plaid Purse By Emily Stumpf

Finished Size: about 9" tall

Yarn: Lambs Pride worsted, 85% wool, 15% mohair 190 yards per 4oz skein, 1 skein each M105 (RPM Pink), M59 (Periwinkle), M10 (Creme), M175 (Bronze Patina), M120 (Limeade)

Needles: 24" Circular needle size 10-1/2 and one set of double pointed needles size 10-1/2.

Notions: Leather purse handles (large selection at Jo-anns fabrics stores), Stitch markers.

Gage: 14sts and 20 rows for 4"


Directions:

Note: knit the plaid charts in faire isle style.

CO 50 stitches with scrap yarn. Knit one row. With M175 (Bronze Patina) knit 48 rows. Following "Body" chart knit across the 50 stitches of one side. Following "Side" chart pick up 22 stitches in the middle 22 ridges. Following "Body" chart knit across 50 stitches of other side. Following "Side" chart pick up and knit 22 stitches on the middle 22 rows. Place marker and join.

Continue working charts purling even rows and knitting odd. When you get to top of chart, BO all stitches with bronze. Wave in all loose ends. Felt. When purse is desired size and dry sew on handles.

I love your Felt bag

I really like your Felted Bag. The design and the colors are very pretty and rich in colors. I have seen it first in the free patterncentral website. I loved it.

Thanks! I got the handles from Joanne's and they had these rings on them. I cut off the rings and then just used an awl to bore two holes into each end and then used sewing thread to go in and out of the holes until it was secure.
